Tim Zuponcic
Consultant
Specialty:
Innovation, Product Development, Business Operations
Tim founded TZ Affiliates after working 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Tim's experience at Lederle Laboratories, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, and Pfizer exposed him to a fair part of the value chain. His early roles in a regional sales office, field sales, and sales operations provided great foundation to understand the importance and effects of good process for the roles he would take on later.
Tim became Wyeth's resident sales force reallocation expert during the era of expanding salesforces, working closely with sales management and marketing teams in defining segments and designing productive sales territories. His work in this area earned him the President's Achievement Award. He moved on to lead Wyeth's U. S. Sales Operations group as the company continued to expand its domestic sales force to over 3,500 sales representatives.
From there he moved to help lead Wyeth's Sales & Marketing Operations group in Business Process Excellence, employing Six-Sigma and LEAN methodologies. The organization of more than 300 was transformed with a customer-focused process excellence program. Tim co-authored training modules, delivered them in training sessions, then coached teams in their application for management-sponsored projects. It was a success. In excess of $33 million in savings was realized across 24 projects. Tim reached a Black-Belt level in Six Sigma through this work.
In 2005, the BPE group was commissioned to create Wyeth's global product development process. Tim and a team worked to put in place global product development processes, working with nearly every function in the pharmaceutical triad -R&D, Manufacturing, and Marketing. The process and tools continue to be used today.
As the transition from Wyeth to Pfizer took place, Tim was engaged to lead an effort in designing an innovation and new product development process for a new stand-alone division. The entire innovation continuum was delivered, from Idea Generation through Delivery to the Market.
